Our Philosophy
Compassionate care isn't just our name, it is our practice. In order to provide your pet with the best veterinary care, we have to be able to earn your trust. Good communication is vital to being able to formulate a treatment or wellness plan for your pet. We will always try to provide up to date education handouts, treatment plans, and alternative therapies whenever possible in order to help you, help your companion pet.
We also believe that we are part of the communtity, and to that end, work closely with local shelters and rescue organizations to try and help abandonned animals find loving, life long homes. The clinic offers a discount to anyone who adopts a pet from a rescue organization or shelter for 6 months after the adoption, and has a feral cat program to help people that are dealing with an overpopulation of stray cats. We work closely with Doberman Rescue Unlimited, East Coast Italian Greyhound Rescue Organization, Out of the Pits and into the Ritz pitbull rescue, All American Dachshund rescue, the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary and the Lincoln and Cumberland Animal Shelters.
The Compassionate Care Veterinary Clinic opened in January of 2008 in order to provide an urgent medical care facility for the north-east section of Rhode Island and south-west Massachusetts. In the last year, we have expanded our services to promote long term care for chronic illness, hospice care, and care of small mammals. We are now a full service hospital, offering appointments for yearly check ups and vaccines, urgent care, chronic illness care, hospice care, and final arrangements for your pet.
Over the last 4 years, we have grown from a 3 employee facility, to a 3 doctor, 8 support staff practice that is currently in the process of achieving Dr. Farrington's dream of having a stand alone, enviro friendly, full service facility. Our hope is to be in the new hospital, with 4 doctors and 15 staff by next year. Once we are in the new facility, we will be open from 8 am to 10 pm Monday through Friday, and 8 - 4 on the weekends.
